Meet the team

The people who pick up the phone.

With over 45 years of combined experience across commercial, residential and private lending, this team is built to handle the files that are not straightforward.

  • Dave Pham, Head Broker at WeL'nd

    Dave Pham

    Head Broker

Dave's career in finance began in 2006, inside the majors. Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Westpac and NAB each taught him a different half of the same lesson: how a credit decision is actually made, and how much of the outcome is settled long before a file reaches an assessor.

He heads broking at WeL’nd. The work runs from ordinary home lending through to the complicated end of the market, including high-net-worth family offices where the structure takes longer to read than the numbers do.

Dave holds multiple national awards. What that record reflects is a plain habit. Read the whole situation, say the true number early, and stay on it until the structure holds.

    • In finance since 2006
    • Experience across Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Westpac and NAB
    • Works with high-net-worth family offices
    • Holder of multiple national awards
  • William Krypuy, Senior Broker at WeL'nd

    William Krypuy

    Senior Broker

William spent close to a decade at NAB, progressing through retail banking, commercial brokering and Small Business Banker roles. That is an unusual run, because it covers both sides of the counter: what a household needs from a loan, and what a trading business needs from a bank.

He went on to work as a Business Banker at Commonwealth Bank and as a Senior Credit Analyst at Victorian Mortgage Group. The credit analyst years are the ones that show up most in his work now. He has sat in the seat that assesses the file, so he knows which parts of a story a lender will test and which parts it will accept as read.

Much of his work at WeL’nd sits where the income is real but the paperwork does not present it neatly. Self-employed trading histories, seasonal cash flow, a sound business having a difficult year.

    • Nearly a decade at NAB across retail banking, commercial brokering and Small Business Banker roles
    • Business Banker at Commonwealth Bank
    • Senior Credit Analyst at Victorian Mortgage Group
  • Trung Nguyen, Head of Mortgage Operations at WeL'nd

    Trung Nguyen

    Head of Mortgage Operations

Trung came to finance from the medical field, including medical coding at Royal Hobart Hospital. Coding is exacting work. One wrong classification changes the record, and the person who has to unpick it later is never the person who made the error.

That habit transfers cleanly to a loan file. As Head of Mortgage Operations he owns the path a file takes from the first conversation to settlement: what gets collected, what gets checked, what gets submitted, and in what order.

Done properly, operations is quiet work. It looks like being asked for a document once instead of three times, and like a lender's question being answered the same day it lands.

    • Background in the medical field
    • Medical coding at Royal Hobart Hospital
  • Edward Chan, Head of Compliance and Broker Support at WeL'nd

    Edward Chan

Head of Compliance and Broker Support

Edward's background is at ANZ in small business banking, and then as a Mortgage Broker and as a Commercial Analyst. Three roles, three views of the same transaction: the customer's, the broker's and the credit file's.

He leads compliance and broker support at WeL’nd. Compliance in a credit business is not paperwork for its own sake. It is the discipline that keeps the recommendation to a loan a client can genuinely carry, with the reasons written down somewhere the client can read them.

He is also the person the brokers go to when a scenario does not fit a template, which in this business is most weeks.

    • Small business banking at ANZ
    • Experience as a Mortgage Broker
    • Experience as a Commercial Analyst
  • Blair Jones, Customer Relations Manager at WeL'nd

    Blair Jones

    Customer Relations Manager

Blair has more than a decade of experience in financial services, including NAB as a Private Client Manager, and roles at Trustly and Mangopay.

Private client work is a long game. It is built on returning the call, remembering the detail from six months ago, and raising the awkward thing before it turns into a problem. That is the standard he holds customer relations to here.

If you are wondering where your application has got to, Blair is a good person to ask.

    • Over a decade in financial services
    • Private Client Manager at NAB
    • Roles at Trustly and Mangopay
  • Celina Tavares, Office Manager at WeL'nd

    Celina Tavares

    Office Manager

Celina was previously an Administration Officer at a family-owned aged care business, where the administration and the people are never really separate things.

She keeps WeL’nd running: the office, the diary, the small logistics that decide whether a week feels organised or frantic. Most clients meet her first, and most of them remember it.

    • Administration Officer at a family-owned aged care business
  • Mark Ku, Affiliate Partners Manager at WeL'nd

    Mark Ku

    Affiliate Partners Manager

Mark's experience is at Vanguard and AustralianSuper, in risk management and business systems. Both are environments where a process either holds under scrutiny or it does not, and where nobody is impressed by a workaround.

He manages WeL’nd's affiliate partners: the accountants, bookkeepers, financial planners and brokers who send people our way and expect them to be looked after properly.

The job is to make that referral relationship worth having on both sides. Clear expectations at the start, straight reporting through the middle, and a referrer who is told what happened to the client they trusted us with.

    • Risk management and business systems experience at Vanguard
    • Risk management and business systems experience at AustralianSuper
  • Ruth Moralizon

    Executive Assistant

Ruth has more than eight years across the mortgage and financial services industry, including Westpac Banking Corporation, where she managed applications and settlements.

Settlement is where a loan either lands on the day it was promised or does not. Ruth has spent years on that side of the ledger, chasing the missing signature or the discharge authority well before anyone else notices it is missing.

As Executive Assistant she keeps the senior brokers' work moving, which in practice means keeping their clients' files moving.

    • Over eight years in the mortgage and financial services industry
    • Westpac Banking Corporation, managing applications and settlements
  • Myla Alamis

    Credit Specialist and Parabroker

Myla has spent more than eight years supporting brokers, with working knowledge of more than forty lenders and what each of them will and will not accept.

That knowledge decides where a file goes. Two lenders can look identical from the outside and read the same self-employed income statement in completely different ways. Myla knows the difference before the application is written, which saves a client the time and the credit enquiry of finding out the hard way.

She builds the credit submissions that sit behind much of the broking work here.

    • Over eight years supporting brokers
    • Expertise across more than 40 lenders
  • Carina Velasquez

    Parabroker and Credit Specialist

Carina has worked with XIN Financial and Bluestone Home Loans, and spent six years with Macquarie-Sykes Asia, where she progressed to Team Leader.

Team leading is good training for parabroking. Both jobs are about holding a queue of work in your head, knowing which item is closest to falling over, and dealing with that one first.

She prepares and packages credit submissions, then follows them through the lender's process so the broker can stay with the client.

    • Experience with XIN Financial
    • Experience with Bluestone Home Loans
    • Six years with Macquarie-Sykes Asia, progressing to Team Leader
